Eclectic Homeschool Online Seeking Books to Review

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

I’m working up a review collection for EHO featuring resources that will assist authors as they take the route to self-publishing. If Booklocker or some of its authors would be interested in submitting appropriate titles for review, I would love to see them.

If you have anything you would like for us to use, choose an address according to your preferred shipping method and send a package containing review copies and all necessary pricing/contact information.

Marketing your book on blogs

Friday, March 19th, 2004

Excerpted from an article by Richard Hoy

A online marketing opportunity for authors that isn’t so obvious is using RSS to monitor content on other blogs for opportunities to plug a book. If you go to Feedster.com and plug in some search terms that relate to your book’s audience, you’ll get back all the blog posts that reference those terms, including the date and time they were first published.

Monitoring this on a daily basis helps you find opportunities to inject your own commentary (many blogs allow readers to post comments on a topic).

Another Booklocker.com Author Lands Traditional Contract!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2004

For 18 years, Paul Clayton was unsuccessful in landing an agent or publisher. Self-publishing his book through Booklocker.com provided him with a beautiful, glossy paperback volume to distribute. Only twelve months later, he landed an agent and a traditional contract! Paul’s book, Carl Melcher Goes to Vietnam, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in July of this year.

Congrats, Paul!

One Booklocker.com Author’s “Battle Plan” for Success

Wednesday, March 10th, 2004

by Mark C. McCann

With the publication of my second novel, Jacob’s Dream: The Final Battle, I guess one could wonder what is next for this Christian fiction author. A mystical allegory filled with adventure and battles true and noble? Children’s stories of friendship and faith? Devotionals with heartfelt wisdom and practical ideas for everyday living? Well, perhaps, but I find that the battle must continue! Not the battle of the characters in the novel, but the battle for exposure, promotion and that all-important “name recognition” writers search for with all their being. Here is my “battle story” and where it has taken me…
